Fundraising Push is On - 16 Dec 2003

Will our charity be successful in the bids for funding from the Scottish Executive and the Community Fund? That is the question on the lips of the team of volunteers at Cue and Review Recording Service as they record the final editions of their talking newspaper titles for 2003.
Local MSP Dr. Jean Turner has backed our bid by writing to Margaret Curran MSP Minister for Communities in the Scottish Executive.
Our volunteer street collectors have been out in the cold and the rain in recent weeks raising over two thousand one hundred pounds from shoppers throughout the West of Scotland. Rose Reynolds the volunteer in charge of the team (and Secretary of the group) has been delighted at the response she has been getting from the general public. Every 50p donated has been helping the team to pay the rent and power costs that any charity needs to provide its service.
So keen are the team to get us through our present difficulties that we will be out can collecting on the 2nd and 3rd of January at the Tesco Springburn store. If you would like to help us, watch for the team there or drop some change in when we are at the Sainsbury Kirkintilloch store on the 30th and 31st January 2004
With the problems being faced by the charity Bishopbriggs resident Andrew Lenihan (Chairman of the group) secured the agreement of his fellow trustees to introduce a membership fee of two pounds per month to be paid by our visually impaired listeners. A number of listeners have now signed up for the new scheme and we are hopeful of many more people getting in touch. If you know of a visually impaired person who could benefit from receiving their magazine or newspaper on cassette tape why don't you take out a membership for them as part of their Christmas. Telephone our office for further details on 0141-563-0306 or visit the titles page of this site.
