Volunteering
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and are of all ages. Some spend a few weeks or months with us during a period of unemployment or between jobs, while others commit time to us on a weekly or monthly basis. Historically they have worked from our studios, for a few hours during the day or in the evening, depending on what suits them. Most of them have worked as part of a team. We still need volunteers on this basis. However, the Internet has opened up opportunities for 'virtual' volunteering.
We are proud to be holders of the Investors in People and Positive About Disability Charter marks and ensure that their aims are implemented within the charity. We offer all our volunteers training.

Presenters and Sound Technicians - research, compile, present and record audio articles for the titles they work on. From time-to-time they also carry out interviews. |
Tape Production Assistants - erase and sort tapes, duplicate new editions using our digital mastering system and carry out quality checks of the finished magazines. They clean and replace wallets, and pack cassettes ready for despatch by post. |
Administration Assistants - answer incoming telephone calls, process the mail and maintain our filing and database systems. The smooth running of our work depends on this 'behind-the-scenes' work. |
Marketers and Public Relations Managers. We always need people who can raise the profile of Cue and Review Recording Service with the public and the visually impaired community. Members of this team research, prepare and deliver presentations to corporate donors and to grant-making trusts. Much of this work can be done remotely as a 'virtual' volunteer. |
Street Collectors. We have a regular street collection programme throughout the year and we always need volunteers to 'rattle' a can. This can be as big or as small a commitment as you are able to make it. An hour as a one-off or a couple of hours several times a month. |
Volunteer Directors - Advisory Council. Vacancies exist for professional people of all ages to join our Advisory Council. Council members are advisors to the Board of Trustees and do not receive any form of remuneration nor travel expenses at present. Advisors are asked to serve for up to three years, attending committee or board meetings in an advisory capacity only. |

Writers and Journalists. If you already write reviews for the types of magazine we transcribe and you'd be prepared to let us have copy we're interested! If you're a wordsmith and can add to the content of our web site (articles, commentary, news, your experiences as a visually-impaired person) then we're also interested. |
